The Safest Vehicles on the Road: IIHS Top Safety Pick+ 2025
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has released its latest round of vehicle safety ratings for 2025, with 16 models from 12 different brands earning Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ awards. The latest additions bring the total number of 2025 Top Safety Pick+ award winners to 66 and Top Safety Pick winners to 18.
What It Takes to Earn Top Safety Pick+
To qualify for the highest award, vehicles need good ratings in multiple crash tests including small overlap front and side tests, an acceptable or good rating in pedestrian front crash prevention evaluation, and acceptable- or good-rated headlights across all trim levels. A good rating in the moderate overlap front test is specifically required for the "plus" designation.

- Subaru Forester — Small SUV with good ratings in all tests
- Tesla Cybertruck — Large pickup truck (built after April 2025)

The Acura ADX, Hyundai Palisade, and Tesla Model 3 earned the standard Top Safety Pick award, meaning they met most criteria but fell short of the "plus" designation in certain areas.
